Meet the Team

Internal Medicine
Fred Nordquist, MD
Hello, my name is Fred Nordquist, and I've lived in Cheatham County, Tennessee since I was 10 years old. I joined the U.S. Army immediately after graduating from high school, where I served as a linguist and intelligence specialist for 5 years.
I decided I wanted to be a physician at the age of 23 and began my undergraduate education at Tennessee State University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree with a focus in pre-medicine/biology in 2001. In 2002, I graduated from Meharry Medical College with highest honors and began my residency at St Thomas Midtown. I served as Chief resident and completed my residency in 2005. I began private practice in Pleasant View in July, 2005.
It has been the joy of my life to serve my neighbors as family, as I believe this service is the mission work God prepared me for. I have a passion for preventing disease, complex diagnostic challenges, and helping patients get off of medications through healthy lifestyle modifications.
When I'm not seeing patients, I enjoy all things outdoor: fishing, hunting, gardening, hiking and camping. I have an amazing wife, Angela, and 4 children.
If you are interested in a personalized approach to healthcare, a partnership in your health goals, and you are motivated to improve your life, I'd love to be called your doctor!

Nurse Practitioner
Joy Bumpus, NP
Hello! My name is Joy Bumpus. I was born and raised in Clarksville, but have lived in Cheatham County for the past 26 years. I have also been a registered nurse for 26 years graduating with my BSN from APSU in 1998. Next, I graduated from Vanderbilt with my Master’s degree in Family Practice 2004, and lastly I attended Murray State University online and received my Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2024.
My experience in medicine encompasses many areas. I have had the pleasure of working in Cardiology, Heart Transplant, Dermatology, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and as Clinical Instructor for APSU.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy exercising, boating and surfing on our wake boat, and spending quality time with my husband of 26 years and our 16 year son.
I started at the Village Primary Care in November of 2024, and have thoroughly enjoyed joining this self-less team. If you desire a friendly, supportive, and thorough approach to being healthy, I would love to be a part of your healthcare journey.

Billing Director
Angela Nordquist
My name is Angela Nordquist, and I have been working in the medical field for over 20 years. I started at the age of 18 as a Medical Assistant, and then continued my education, earning a limited X-Ray licensure, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Registered Nurse), and finally a Masters of Science in Nursing (Advanced Practice Nursing/Nurse Practitioner) licensure. In 2006 I started my journey with Dr. Fred Nordquist as his Medical Assistant. I continued in this role until 2012 when I became the Office Manager. I continue to hold this position, but added another role to my duties in 2017 when I became the Billing Director.
Medicine has always been my passion, and I feel blessed to work in a small community where I can make a difference. In my spare time I enjoy training my German Shepherds, spending time with my son and daughter, camping, traveling, attending church events, and spending time with my friends. I appreciate the opportunity to serve patients in this practice, and look forward to seeing us grow!

Family Practice Provider
Thomas Atkins, MD
Hi, my name is Thomas Atkins. I am a Cheatham County and Pleasant View native. I am a graduate of Pleasant View Christian School, received my undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, and my medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee where I fell in love with Family Medicine, a specialty that not only allows me to see patients of all ages, but also gives me the opportunity to provide a wide variety of services and procedures.
My Residency training was very unique. Given my passion for rural medicine, I was chosen to help create and mold a new rural track Residency at UTHSC Family Medicine in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. While developing this track, I spent much of my training in small, medically underserved towns and cities getting exposure to the challenges of rural medicine.
Throughout my training, I was able to see how rural physicians can make a huge impact in their community and it has always been my dream to return to my hometown and care for my neighbors.
This dream became reality when I began practice at the Village Primary Care in July, 2025..
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two beautiful daughters, and family. I love all things outdoors whether it is fishing, caring for our growing livestock, or gardening.
I can think of no greater joy than having the opportunity to practice medicine in my hometown. If you are looking for a true down-to-earth family doctor who is passionate about preventing disease, patient-centered medicine, and helping you work toward a healthier version of yourself, it would be an honor to be your doctor.
